๐ŸŽฏ IELTS Speaking Lesson 4: Describe a Memorable Journey

Part 2 Cue Card Question:

Describe a memorable journey you have taken.
You should say:

  • where you went
  • how you travelled
  • what you did during the journey
  • and explain why it was memorable

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Sample Answer

One of the most memorable journeys Iโ€™ve ever taken was a trip to Ella, a beautiful town in the hill country of Sri Lanka. I went there with two of my closest friends during our university vacation.

We travelled by train from Colombo to Ella, and the scenery along the way was absolutely breathtaking โ€” we saw lush green tea plantations, misty mountains, and small waterfalls. The train ride itself took around nine hours, but it never felt boring because we kept chatting, taking pictures, and enjoying the view.

When we reached Ella, we visited Nine Arches Bridge and Little Adamโ€™s Peak. Climbing up was a bit tiring, but the view from the top was worth every step. In the evening, we had dinner at a small local restaurant where we tried traditional Sri Lankan food.

The journey was memorable because it was the first time I truly appreciated the beauty of my own country. It also brought me closer to my friends, and we made memories that will last a lifetime.
